Pest Control Guide!

Hi,
As I am playing Pest Control alot lately ALOT!,
I have seen many people who don't seem to know how to play Pest Control,
Or If they do,
They are not quite as good as they could be,
This guide should take you step by step to become the P-cer
Should that Is :eek:

==========
Requirments:~
==========
Just 40 Combat

==========
First thing:~
==========
How to get here :p
==========
Pretty simple,
Go to Port Sarim,
(Open the Runescape map If you are not sure )
It Is south of Fally,
The Port where you go to and from Karamja...
Go a bit further south,
Then east.
You will see a squire,
Talk to him and say "I would like to go to your outpost"
Voila! Your there!!!

==========
What Is at the "Pest Control" Island...
==========
At the Island where the Minigame Is,
There Is not many things to do...
The things there are a bank, magic shop, anvil, and a friendly NPC who will fix your Barrows armour

==========
How to "Get Into" the Minigame...
==========
Probably the most Important thing,
As you can't be standing there watching I'm afraid!
Going to the most Southernly part of Island...
There Is a Lander,
Enter the lander,
Now you will soon be playing
You need 5 to 25 people to play,
If there Is 25 people In the Lander,
You will be taken Into the minigame straight away!
If not there Is a waiting time of 5 minutes :mad:
If you have waited the 5 minutes,
but there Isn't 5 people In the lander,
The timer starts all over again! :mad:

==========
What to wear/take:~
==========
For meleeing people I would suggest:~
==========
Helmet:~Berserker Helm/Warrior Helm/Helm Of Neitiznot
Ammy:~Glory or fury
Weapon:~Either Dragon Battleaxe for special, or DDS for special, then swap to whip
Shield:~Rune defender
Torso (Body):~Fighter torso
Leg's:~Initiate Cruisse Or Proselyte Cruisse
Boot's:~Rune or climbing boot's
Ring:~Berserker or warriow
Gloves:~Barrows

==========
Ranger's:~
==========
Helmet:~Robing Hood hat or Archer helm
Ammy:~Glory or fury
Weapon:~Magic shortbow or Crystal bow.... Knives are ok also...
Shield:~Not used...
Torso (Body):~Best d hide body
Leg's:~Best d hide leg's
Boot's:~Ranger boot's
Ring:~Archer
Gloves:~Barrows or Best d hide vambraces
Arrows:~At least iron!!!!!!!!!

==========
Mager's
==========
Helmet:~Mystic hat/ Infinity hat/ Ahrim's hood
Ammy:~Glory or fury
Weapon:~Any staff/Ahrims staff/Master wand (Master wand Is only good as It has the highest Magic+ attack bonus, It does not count as a rune)
Shield:~Mage's book
Torso (Body):~Mystic/Infinity/Ahrims
Leg's:~Mystic/Infinity/Ahrims
Boot's:~Mystic/Infinity
Ring:~Farseer
Gloves:~Mystic/Infinity

Ok now you are all ready to fight
But,
Oh no I have not stated what you actually do In Pest Control,
It Is very very simple,
When you enter the Minigame you will be on another Island,
In the centre Is the "Void Knight" you are trying to save...
In each corner Is a portal...
If you have 80+ Combat, go to a portal and only the portal,
Any order...
If you see a spinner,
GET IT AS SOON AS YOU CAN!!!!!!
If you have 40-80 Comabt,
I would reccomend sticking with keeping the "Void Knight" alive!
Only by the attack the ickle critters that are actually attacking the Knight!
Ignore the rest!
Close all of the gate's at all times!!!!

Runescape Range Guide

Ranging is a great skill since you can attack enemies from a distance, and not have to pay as much as you would if you became a mage. Mages do have a wider variety of attacks and more attacks since the massive amount of money they have to dish out. If you are a member, you can get Ava’s accumulator to get any steel arrows you drop automatically. If you are not a member, you can still walk and get the arrows you used, conserving money. Also, the strong range armour and weapons are much cheaper than what you would have to pay if you were a mage. Karil’s set is only 800k and full black dragonhide is only 55k. Magic bows can be bought for a few thousand. If you want to become powerful while keeping your money in tact, ranging is for you.

1-30
I would start off in the Varrock sewers. There are lots of sewer water creating divisions, so the enemy you are attacking can not fight back. I would start out with the most common enemy, rats. Level 1 rats are incapable of giving damage, so you can just stand in front of them and attack. Once you are a bit stronger, you can attack giant rats behind streams of sewer water. Once you enter the Varrock sewers, there is a stream to the direct left. After you are done, just walk a few seconds around the water and collect your arrows. This should be your main training for a bit.

If you wander down the west most path, you will come across a stream of water and zombies on the other side. Pound away at them with your arrows after you are 15 range, or so. The problem is, you probably won’t get back your arrows, this way. It is a good idea to use cheap arrows on the zombies.

Another place to fight is on the outside of pens or gates. There is a very good training area at lumbridge for low levels. Just go a little north of lumby and a chicken pen awaits you. Collect the feathers to trade in for a little money. Also, get the raw chicken and cook it to eat, if you get hurt somehow. You probably won’t since you are at the outside of a pen. Just across from the chicken pen is the cow pen. You can range cows and grab the leather they drop and sell that off for 100 each. The crafting guild is caged in. Attack the monsters inside while standing outside of the gate. You can’t get your arrows back unless you can go in.

30-40
Bars. Bars. Bars. My motto is if there is a bar there is a way. xD Anyway, at this point, you should find some bars to train in. Let the enemy be on one side of the table/counter/etc. and you on the other side. Kill your opponent, and go to the other side of the table to collect the spoils and your arrows. Also, the barbarian village bar is a good place at this level range.

40-60
I guess you can go around training in the Wizard Tower. It may be for wizards, but you can just beat the in there anyway. Just plow your way through anything in that tower to get a lot of experience.

You should now fight ice giants and moss giants. Try to hide behind anything you can and just fire away.

60-80
Well, you can fight on lesser demons in Karajma, and if you are a member, you can fight fire giants. You can beat most things in the game. If you still want to, you may even try to plow through black knight’s fortress right next to the ice mountain.

80+
Just beat any dragons you feel like. The blue dragons in Tavelry work especially well, but when you are in the 90s, you can even move to the infamous black dragons. Just beat down some dragons to get good drops and good experience.

Note: When training, use the rapid fire option. This gives you experience the fastest. Also, I prefer a shortbow because they fire faster. Always have the highest bow/range weapons you can wield. Also, wear the best range armour you can get because they are cheap. I like keeping dragonhide as they have as they serve as great armour, but are cheap. Arrows can get expensive, so try to use not much more than steel arrows, if you need to. If you are fighting something powerful, then you can switch to higher arrows.

Give me feedback about the guide. Also, if it helps you, you can give me rep ;) BTW please post which guide I should make next.

Grand Exchange Guide! [MUST READ]

Welcome to the Grandest of Grand Exchange guides!

Hello, and welcome. In this guide, I will show you how to make profit from using the GE. Now, there are pretty much 2 main ways to do this and we can categorize these methods into: Technical Trading & Fundamental Trading.

If I have caught your interest, then read on...

Technical Trading

Technical trading is fairly simple and is probably what most of you are already familiar with. It involves finding straight graphs and buying a lot of the item for slightly under the mid price and selling it back at the mid price, or even slightly higher.

To start, you will want to go to the grand exchange portion of the runescape website, but more specifically, the Most Traded portion. Why? Becuase it holds a list of the top 100 most traded items. There are millions of each of these items traded on a daily basis. It is wise to use one of these items for tech trading because there is just so many players buying and selling the items that its unlikely for your offers to not go through.This is only half of the key to technical trading. The other key thing that you must look for is a graph that is relitively straight. Here are some examples:

These are Yew logs. You can see for the most part this graph is straight. There is a little bit of a drop at the end, but ignoring that, you can see that for the large part of the last 30 days, the price has barely changed. That shows that if you were buying and selling that item, the little bit of the fluxuation in price would not affect your trading. There is a range of about 30gp throughout the 30 days.

These are Yew longbows. Again you can see its reletively straight. Throughout the 30 days there is a range of only 33gp. It always has stayed within 640 and 673. This means that again, if you were to trade with this straight graph, the flux would not really affect your offers whatsoever.

That should be enough to get the idea of why I'm saying to use straight graphs. Now moving on to actually buying and selling once you find yourself a nice straight graph. From the mid price, I usually buy for 97% to 98% of it.[example; 500x0.97=485] Now don't expect things to go through right away, these things take time, time you can use to do whatever else you want. Once its all done just sell back. I usually just sell back at mid price to ensure it will sell, but if your greedy you may want to sell for 101% to 103% of the mid price. There is no guarantee that it will sell though.

Lastly, you should try to use fairly low priced items. Why? Because the lower the price is, the more of that item you will be able to buy, and the more you have of the item, the more profit you will be able to make.

That is the gist of Technical trading. If you have questions about something that was not covered in the above, then simply reply and ask. I will try to answer them best to my ability.

Fundamental Trading

Fundamental Trading is a more complicated method and not so straight forward, but the potential profit is much greater than technical trading. It involves finding graphs with curves and buying the item at a low period and selling it at a high period. This method is fine for more expensive items, but works well with cheap things as well. I again would go for the cheaper items, because again the same principle applies, the more of an item you have the more profit you will be able to make.

To start I will let you know right now that there is no special place to look for curved graphs, they require looking and browsing throughout the grand exchange portion of the website. I will show you how to read these curvy graphs so that you will know when to buy something and equally importantly, when to sell them.

Anyways reading the graphs is similar to reading a line of words. Just like the lines of words you are reading right now. You go from left to right. Its pretty straight-yet-curvy-forward:

the #1 most basic important thing you must remember about fundamental trading is if the daily average [blue line] is above the 5 day average[yellow line], then the price is going up. If the daily average[blue line]is below the 5 day average[yellow line], then the price is going down.

At the first red circle here we see the blue crossing the yellow. This is a buy signal. We see that the price raises for a large portion of the 30 days until we get to the second red circle. Blue descends through yellow. This my friends is a sell signal. If you were to buy at the buy signal and sell at the sell signal you would have made 78500gp x whatever # of that item you bought.

Here we have a graph that starts out fairly stable. The blue eventually crosses up and the price jumps. Time to buy. you can see the line starting to even out and drives towards the yellow to cross over. That is where you would want to sell the item. Then later a buy signal presents itself where you would want to buy and it continues to go up at a ridiculous slope.

Here is a very clean display of signals throughout the whole 30 days. By now you can probably guess which each circle represents.

Now that you have learned the language of money making, you can go out and lurk for the perfect graph that is about to skyrocket up and make yourself some easy money. If you start using a graph, make sure you keep an eye on it all the time so you don't miss your chance to sell.

Introduction

Welcome to The Amazing F2P Mining 101 guide. This guide is dedicated to all you people who want to become hard core miners, but just don't know how!!! Sit back, relax, and read my guide.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

1- Requirements

To start Mining 101, please make sure you have the following:
  • Level 15 Mining (Able to mine Iron)
  • A pickaxe
  • Some amount of money around 50k to buy PICKAXES as you go along

If you have these, you are ready to begin!

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

2- The Beginnings (Level 15 - 30)

Start by heading off to DWARVEN MINES. Head to Falador and enter that way.

Once you go down the staircase, head west. You will see adamantite ore, keep heading west until you hit 3 iron ore in a banana shape ( . Make sure you have a high enough combat level to defeat king scorpions with ease, as they will often attack. You have an option here. You can either store the ore in your bank, and get money by selling or smelting later on, or you can powermine. If you are looking to make a business out of mining, store it in the bank.

Continue to mine, it will take until you have mined 313 ore, in other words, until you have made 12 trips to the bank.

Congratz! You have reached level 30 mining! Move onto the next section.

As recommended by Football Crazy:

What I would do here is to contunue to mine Copper until lvl 31. It's faster and closer to a bank! =)

Plus if you want to make money buy then tin ore and smelt it or superheat.

Doing this would mean mining around Varrock, below the city, there is several tin ore. To mine copper:

Go to Varrock, and continue to mine.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

3- On Your Way (Level 31 - 40)

Before you continue, buy yourself a new pick.

After you have done that, head to Al-Kharid, and enter the mine.

Mine silver ore, and keep mining, storing it in your bank, and gaining up the levels.

It will take you 22 trips to get to level 40, which is alot of work.

Congratz! You are now an average miner, which can mine gold!

EUREKA!

Advice by Football Crazy:

Silver is long as heck to mine. And banking it is too far away. At this point I would mine iron if YOUR A MEMBER at Yanalle mines. It's closer to a bank and nobody is ever there. If not continue mining copper, trust me it is fast.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

4- Becoming A Pro (Level 41 - 50)

Buy yourself a new pick again (Rune). You will now mine coal. From now, it is smooth sailing. Mine where you like, you should have a fair understanding of which mine to use. I would recommend going to Lumbridge Swamps.

46 inventories later, you have reached level 50!

Congratz! Level 50 is good, but you want more. Continue to endure, because it WILL be worth it.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

5- Becoming A Legend (Level 51 - 85)

At this level it would take forever to reach 85 with gold. Plus it's a fair walk if you're not a member and can't use the shortcut into Falador. Try mining coal, or mithril ore at the Lumbridge Swamps again.

2248 trips of Coal, or (once you have reached level 55) 1381 trips of Mithril Ore and 40 trips of coal until level 85 - before level 55.

Congratz! You are now ranked a Legend in my standards

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

6- The Best Of The Best (Level 85+)

My, you have endured, yes? These next levels take alot of hard work, but you are becoming the best.

I would think you would have a high enough combat level to live in the wilderness, surely. If not, train your combat to level 60 or so.

Because we will now be mining Adamantite and Runite. Go to the wilderness for Runite and Adamantite (other mine for adamantite is Dwarven Mines).

Mine, and mine, and mine, and mine, and mine.

Statistics:
  • 3676 Inventories Of Adamantite Ore To Level 99
  • 2910 Inventories Of Runite Ore To Level 99

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Conclusion

Wow, you have done it. Congratlations. Level 99. Good luck, and keep mining!
